Days after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey publicly announced that he wouldn’t be suspending Alex Jones from Twitter, the platform has suspended accounts associated with the alt-right group The Proud Boys, BuzzFeed News reports. The groups main account along with the account of its founder and former Fox News personality Gavin McInnes have been suspended for violations of the platform’s policy against “violent extremist groups.” The group’s regional accounts have also been suspended. Members of the Proud Boys were present during the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, though the group’s founder Gavin McInnes sought to distance his movement from alt-right and white-supremacist groups.
Correction: This story previously claimed that the Proud Boys, as a group, had attended the Unite the Right rally. While members of the Proud Boys were in attendance, the organization condemned the event.
