Exclusive: Behind the Scenes of ‘Homeland’ Season 5

SPYCRAFT

Watch a video from the set of the fifth season of Homeland, now shooting in Berlin, exclusively at The Daily Beast. The new season will premiere October 4 on Showtime.

Those of us who braved the death of Damian Lewis’s Sergeant Nicholas Brody and tuned in for Season 4 of Homeland were rewarded with a surprisingly badass return to form. With the romantic entanglements of Carrie and Brody—as well as one of TV’s most hated characters—firmly in the rear view, showrunner Alex Gansa and Co. were free to focus on the stellar acting, brisk plotting, and intricate spycraft that made the show so damn thrilling in the first place.

The Islamabad-set fourth season ended with Fara Sherazi (Nazanin Boniadi) and Aayan Ibrahim (Suraj Sharma) dead, the White House severing all diplomatic ties to Pakistan, Saul (Mandy Patinkin) freed, and the revelation that both Saul and Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) had cut a deal with Taliban leader Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar) to take him off the CIA kill list in exchange for him no longer harboring terrorists in Afghanistan.

Precious little is known about Season 5, which will be set two years after the events of Season 4. What we do know is that Carrie is gone from the CIA and now working for a private security firm in Berlin, where the fifth season is currently being filmed.

This exclusive behind the scenes video of Homeland Season 5 drops some hints of what’s in store, including Claire Danes’s Carrie kicking butt while sporting a nifty wig (or a new hairdo?):
