Anne Speckhard, Ph.D., is an adjunct associate professor of psychiatry at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Director of the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism (ICSVE). She has interviewed over 800 violent extremists and terrorists, their family members and supporters in various parts of the world including Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Europe, U.S., Canada, the Balkans, the former Soviet Union, Gaza and the West Bank. She is the author of several books, including Talking to Terrorists and ISIS Defectors: Inside Stories of the Terrorist Caliphate and Homegrown Hate: Inside the Minds of Domestic Violent Extremists.
