Beyoncé made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards Sunday, becoming the first Black woman to win an award in the event’s country genre in 50 years. During the award show’s pre-ceremony, the music icon took home the gold for Best Country Duo/Group Performance along with Miley Cyrus for their joint track “II Most Wanted” off her album Cowboy Carter. The Pointer Sisters were the last Black female act to win an award in the Grammy’s country genre, winning Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1975 for their song “Fairytale.” Other nominees in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category this year included the Brothers Osborne, Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan, and Post Malone and Morgan Wallen. Beyoncé is the most nominated artist at this year’s Grammys earning nods in the Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year categories, amongst others. The Renaissance artist is also the most decorated artist in Grammy history.
