James Carville hit out at Stephen A. Smith over his takes on the Democratic party, saying that the famous broadcaster has been “running his f--ing mouth” and should stick to covering sports.

Longtime Democrat strategist Carville, with what appeared to be a beer in hand, attacked Smith on his podcast Politicon Wednesday after the ESPN host claimed he may have to run for president in 2028 due to lack of prospective Democratic nominees.

“When it comes to sports, I find him to be really insightful,” Carville said. “When it comes to politics, he don’t know his a-- from a hole in the ground.”

Earlier this month, Smith called the party “pathetic,” and that “he might entertain running.” The comment came after he claimed he regretted voting Democrat in December.

“Stephen A., are you s---ing me,” Carville said. “Before you start running your f---ing mouth off about politics, a topic of which you really don’t know anything about, you oughta sit back and think about it, and call some people.”

Carville has also admitted he was wrong about former vice president Kamala Harris, who was thrown into the race suddenly this summer after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

“We lost for one very simple reason: It was, it is and it always will be the economy, stupid,” he wrote at in the New York Times at the beginning of the year. “Democrats have flat-out lost the economic narrative. The only path to electoral salvation is to take it back.”

In the podcast, Carville then defended some of the the Democrat’s top contenders: Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.

“You say you’re friends with Wes Moore, you say you’re friends with Josh Shapiro...I think they’re really extraordinary talented people,” he continued in his rant against Smith. “I got news for you dude: there’s six or seven other people in the Democratic party that are just that talented.”

He then told the commentator to stay in his lane. “Stephen A., keep up your s-- on sports, I enjoy it, I like it, but don’t make a fool of yourself anymore and talk about politics.”
