Should Charles Manson’s right-hand man be granted parole? That’s the question facing California Governor Jerry Brown after a state board agreed to let Manson-follower Bruce Davis out on parole. Davis, now 69, was, was charged with murder for the 1969 killings of musician Gary Hinman and ranch worker Donald Shea. In the 40 years since, he has become an ordained minister and earned two master’s degrees. The parole board cited his positive adjustment, good behavior and academic progress as reasons for release. Davis was also recommended for parole already in 2010, but the request was denied by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
