The crossing of Abbey Road, made famous by the iconic Beatles album cover taken 45 years ago, may be getting a much-needed crossing guard. Westminster Council says it is discussing employing a “lollipop lady” or man to help manage the “thousands and thousands” of Beatles fans who obstruct incoming cars and put themselves at risk. “Obviously we don’t want to be spoilsports, we are really proud of our musical heritage,” said Westminster City Councillor Lindsey Hall. “I’ve seen huge double-decker buses parking on double yellow lines right outside the studio, causing total chaos to traffic and causing danger to people trying to get their photograph. It would be good to have somebody there permanently.”
