Seemingly by accident, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump confirmed Tuesday morning that his daughter Ivanka wanted Corey Lewandowski to leave his post as campaign manager. “That’s absolutely true,” Trump said after being asked by the Today show about reports his daughter was the driving force behind the firing. He continued: “Ivanka has great respect for him and so does my family.” When pressed for clarity by host Matt Lauer, Trump scrambled to walk it back: “No, no, no. What I said—well, I was reversing it. I said, it’s true that Ivanka really respects Corey and it’s absolutely true.” He then called Monday's reports indicating that his children were responsible for pushing out Lewandowski “absolute nonsense.”
