Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Paul Ryan’s reelection bid, following threats that he might withold his support. Reading off a sheet of paper during a Friday night campaign rally in Trump announced that “in our shared mission to make America great again, I support and endorse our Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.” Trump also endorsed John McCain’s reelection bid.
Trump had threated to withold his endorsement of both candidates, saying that he was “not quite there yet” on the Republican congressmen. His reluctance to endorse Ryan and McCain inspired a rift in the party, including with his own running mate, who endorsed Ryan earlier this week.
