Robert De Niro on Saturday told a Sarajevo audience that America’s Republican nominee Donald Trump is “totally nuts.” Speaking as part of a presentation of the digital version of the film Taxi Driver, De Niro expressed confusion that Trump had managed to get the GOP nomination. “I don’t know, it’s crazy that people like Donald Trump... he shouldn’t even be where he is, so God help us,” De Niro said, adding that “what he’s been saying is really totally crazy, ridiculous... he is totally nuts.” De Niro’s remarks, which elicited major applause from the crowd, came after he opened the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival on Friday, where he was awarded a lifetime achievement award for his films.
