Louisiana's Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards on Thursday signed legislation classifying the targeting of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS workers as "hate crimes." Dubbed the "blue lives matter" bill, it is the first in the nation to classify hate crimes based on one's occupation.
