Three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and that Kanye West really wants to be taken seriously in the fashion world.
He recently called New York Fashion Week the “Super Bowl of culture.” He’s blasted Hedi Slimane for slighting him in Paris (“a God needs to recognize another God”). He’s taken on fashion critics (“Please be easy… I don’t fuck with celebrities”), Vogue for its one-time fatwa issued against Kim Kardashian (“Michelle Obama cannot Instagram a pic like my girl Instagrammed the other day”), and even Zappos (“shit product”).
In the wake of his first fashion show Thursday night in New York City, the appropriately-titled “Yeezy: Season 1” in which Kanye debuted his Adidas x Yeezy Boost sneakers—as well as an odd coterie of nude bodysuits—and baby North West pitched a crying fit in front of a shade-throwing Anna Wintour, Mrs. Kanye, Kim Kardashian West, has opened up about the time her hubby made her throw out all her clothes.

Yes, when Kanye and Kim started dating three years ago, the budding designer brought his personal stylist, Renelou Padora, over to Kim’s place to make her update her entire wardrobe.
“I said to Kanye, ‘Well I’m going to save them for my daughter one day,’ and he said, ‘Well if it’s going to be our daughter, she’s never going to wear those!’” Kim told LOVE magazine.
She added, “I think he probably thought they were a bit cheesy. I’d never spent time in London or Paris or seen what style was like around the world, so he wanted to bring in stylists to update my look. And they brought in things like snakeskin that I’d never seen before.”Some of the action was captured on a 2012 episode of Kim’s E! reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which boasted a look inside Kanye’s gloriously over-the-top closet, Kim seem genuinely shell-shocked, and Kim utter the following: “Kanye's definitely inspired me to wanna, like, be more of an individual” (while he’s raiding her closet for wack items).
This does seem like some pretty damn controlling behavior, although in Kanye’s defense, Kim did used to dress pretty atrociously during her days as Paris Hilton’s foot-rubbing assistant, and her style has improved drastically during Yeezy Season, including landing a recent Balmain campaign with Kanye.
As for North West’s runway tantrum, Kanye gave a pretty fabulous explanation for the incident in an exclusive interview with i-D.
“Maybe she was just scared for her daddy,” Kanye said. “She just wanted people to stop being mean to her daddy. Because she knows that her daddy loves the world and just wants to make it a more beautiful place.”
