White House Quizzed Over Trump Prostate After Biden Diagnosis

CANCER QUERIES

White House defends physicians after Biden was diagnosed with cancer.

The White House has been grilled over President Donald Trump‘s health and physical results amid questions over Joe Biden‘s cancer diagnosis.

“The White House physician we have here is phenomenal, and the team of physicians that take care of the president, particularly at Walter Reed Medical Center, are great,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

While Leavitt said Trump trusts his physicians, she could not say with certainty that the president is screened for prostate cancer as part of his physical.

“To the best of my understanding, he is, but we can certainly check in with the White House physician and go back and look at that physical report,” she told reporters.

Her comment came as questions are being raised over whether White House doctors may have missed the early stages of Biden’s cancer.

The 82-year-old former president’s office announced on Sunday that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer with cells that have spread to the bone.

Leavitt said on Monday that Trump has not spoken to his predecessor about his diagnosis but would be open to it.

She also dismissed questions over whether the White House is concerned with the quality of care presidents get there.

“The president had his physical recently. As you know, he had perfect results. He’s in very good shape,” she declared to the packed briefing.

On Sunday, Trump veered away from his usual attacks on his predecessor to offer words of support for Biden in light of his cancer diagnosis.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” he posted on Truth Social.

It was among the thousands of messages the former president has received from well-wishers around the world, including from both sides of the aisle.

Biden broke his own silence on his aggressive diagnosis in a social media post on Monday.

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” the former president wrote in a post on X.

In February 2024, Biden’s doctor said he was “fit to serve” while he was still president after he underwent a routine physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

However, questions about Biden’s health have been raised for years as he first sought a second term before eventually dropping out of the presidential race last July.

The former president is no stranger to the fight against cancer and has long offered words of encouragement to those battling it. He lost his son, Beau, to aggressive brain cancer in 2015 and has been a champion of the White House Cancer Moonshot initiative.

Biden was diagnosed with cancer on Friday, according to the statement from his office. The former president and his family are reviewing treatment options with his doctors.
