LeBron James won’t be playing basketball in the same city as both of his sons for long. The superstar’s youngest boy, Bryce, revealed Wednesday he’s committed to play college basketball at the University of Arizona after he graduates from the Sierra Canyon preparatory school in Los Angeles this spring. That means the 17-year-old, who turns 18 in June, will not be following in his brother Bronny’s footsteps to play for the University of Southern California—despite him making an official visit to the university as a recruit. Instead, he’s bound for Tucson and the Sonoran Desert to play for a program that’s enjoyed more recent hoops success than USC, including three straight seasons where the team has won its conference’s regular season or tournament championship. Bryce is a 6-foot-6 guard and is considered a three star recruit (out of five) by 247 Sports. The elder James, who turned 40 this week, celebrated Bryce’s announcement on his own Instagram, writing, “🐻 DOWN⬇️!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS MAXIMUS!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!!” The proud dad also added a flurry of heart and teary-eyed emojis.
