More Americans blame Donald Trump than DEI for the Washington, D.C. plane crash that killed 67 people, according to a survey.
This is despite the president’s attempts to push the narrative that Democrat-instituted government diversity, equity, and inclusion policies were part of the reason that an airliner collided with a Black Hawk helicopter two weeks ago.
Just 22 percent of Americans surveyed said that they believed DEI was at fault, while 26 percent pinned the blame on Trump and his administration, according to data collected by Morning Consult that was shared with Axios.

Meanwhile, 24 percent responded that the Biden administration was responsible.

In the wake of the fatal crash, both Trump and Elon Musk had suggested that DEI policies at the Federal Aviation Administration, particularly relating to air traffic controllers, were behind the incident.
However, there has been no indication that the relevant air traffic controllers—or anyone else involved in the crash—were hired under government DEI policies.
Trump’s blame game has shifted its focus in the days since the crash. On Thursday, the president suggested that “obsolete” air traffic systems were actually the problem.
The new explanation followed Musk’s announcement on Wednesday that he and his baby-faced Department of Government Efficiency Team will be making “rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system.”
“It’s amazing that it happened,” Trump said of the crash in a speech on Thursday. “And I think that’s going to be used for good. I think what is going to happen is we’re all going to sit down and do a great computerized system for our control towers. Brand new—not pieced-together, obsolete.”
The Morning Consult survey also showed that 66 percent of Americans feel concerned about flying in the future, and a third of those people are “very concerned.”
