The company that brought us ‘Shrek,’ ‘How to Train Your Dragon.’

NBCUniversal announced on Thursday that the company acquired DreamWorks Animation, which has gifted the world movies like Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon. DreamWorks, which is valued at $3.8 billion, also has its hand in television specials, live entertainment, and the products they’ve inspired. Universal’s Film Entertainment Group already includes Fandango and Universal Pictures. Steve Burke, NBCUniversal’s chief executive officer said that Jeffrey Katzenberg—DreamWorks’s CEO—created a “dynamic film brand” and “deep library of intellectual property.” He added: “The prospects for our future together are tremendous.”
