North Carolina Republican Mark Harris Spent $34,310 on Disputed Absentee Ballots, Turnout Operation

Amid increasingly alarming reports of election fraud in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District, Republican candidate Mark Harris disclosed late Thursday night that his campaign owed $34,310 to Red Dome Group. The Charlotte-based consulting group has been accused of collecting absentee ballots in a possibly illegal effort to sway the election in Harris’ favor. Harris listed the obligation in a Federal Election Commission filing, which described “reimbursement payment for Bladen absentee, early voting poll workers; reimbursement door to door,” The New York Times reported. The documents show Red Dome hired L. McCrae Dowless Jr., a Bladen County operative who has been accused of collecting and tampering with absentee ballots from voters to tip the election toward the GOP nominee.
