Senator Lisa Murkowski has become the first Republican to confirm that she won’t support Pete Hegseth’s bid to head the Department of Defense.
The Alaska senator released a statement saying she couldn’t “in good conscience” support Donald Trump’s pick.
“After thorough evaluation, I must conclude that I cannot in good conscience support his nomination for Secretary of Defense. I did not make this decision lightly; I take my constitutional responsibility to provide advice and consent with the utmost seriousness,” Murkowski posted to X.
