The Republican Party’s long-awaited replacement plan for the Affordable Care Act has arrived and Stephen Colbert is not impressed.
“Well, it’s finally here,” the Late Show host said in his monologue Tuesday night. “After six years of trying, last night the Republicans finally unveiled their healthcare plan. Then, out of force of habit, they voted to repeal it.”
Colbert noted that there are some aspects of Obamacare that remain—kids staying on their parents’ plan until the age of 26, non-discrimination against pre-existing conditions, and “grandma will still be murdered by death panels while Nancy Pelosi cackles from her skybox.”

“Oh, there’s one other thing they’re keeping from Obamacare,” he added: “Nobody likes it.” Conservatives like Sen. Rand Paul are calling it “Obamacare Lite,” or as Colbert put it, “Great taste, less coverage.”
“Meanwhile, Democrats are unhappy because experts estimate this will cover 20 million fewer Americans than Obamacare,” Colbert added to boos. “20 million fewer than Obama? That sounds like Trump’s inauguration.”
