On Friday, President Donald Trump said he wants to eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency as he surveyed damage in North Carolina after historic floods, reports CNBC. Trump recommended “that FEMA go away” at a press briefing in Asheville. “We’re looking at the whole concept of FEMA,” he said, while suggesting that states take greater charge of managing disaster relief. He also praised his daughter, Lara Trump. His comments came ahead of his expected visit to Los Angeles to view the wreckage from the historic wildfires that have devastated the Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Trump has blamed California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the fires and threatened to withhold federal aid if the state does not change its water policy. Trump is yet to release any plans to restructure or eliminate FEMA.
