President Donald Trump shielded conservative Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett from his own supporters on Sunday after they blasted her for voting against the Trump administration.
MAGA world had a meltdown last week when Barrett sided with liberal justices in rejecting the Trump administration’s bid to keep billions in foreign aid frozen. In a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court decided not to halt a district judge’s directive for the government to pay nearly $2 billion in unpaid invoices from foreign aid contractors.
Asked by reporters about the attacks against Barrett, Trump hailed the justice as “a very good woman.”

“She’s very smart, and I don’t know about people attacking her,” he said aboard Air Force One. “I think she’s a very good woman. She’s very smart.”
Though conservative Chief Justice John Roberts also voted against the Trump administration, it was Barrett who bore the brunt of the right-wing ire.
MAGA pundit Mike Cernovich called Barrett “another DEI hire”: “She is evil, chosen solely because she checked identity politics boxes,” he said. “It always ends badly.”
Conservative influencer Paul Szypula called Barrett “disgraceful” and “a bad SCOTUS nominee.” Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk agreed that it was “looking that way,” while journalist Eric Daugherty called the justice “a big problem.”
A clip of Barrett looking at Trump went viral last week as the president greeted justices in a speech before a joint session of Congress.
“Oh boy, look at how Justice Amy Coney Barrett looks at our duly elected President, the man who put her on the Supreme Court,” MAGA influencer Robert O’Handley, who goes by DC_Draino online, said in a post on X.
“She looks very bitter,” he added. “No wonder why she keeps ruling with the liberals against him.”
