It seems like autocracy is no longer knocking at America’s door, but barging right in instead.
For The New Abnormal’s Danielle Moodie, the arrest of Columbia student and pro-Palestine activist Mahmoud Khalil by ICE over the weekend is a huge cause for concern that proves America has officially “arrived” at autocracy.

“We’re no longer backsliding. We’re no longer inching. It is here,” Moodie claims in this week’s episode. “The fact is we have no idea where this man is at the moment is—and should be—terrifying to everyone.”
“This is clearly illegal, unconstitutional, however you wanna call it,” co-host Andy Levy chimed in, referring to Khalil’s legal residency status and complete lack of evidence linking him to Hamas. “This is straight-up authoritarianism.”
