Long-time Fox News contributor Tucker Carlson has been named the new host of On the Record, the 7 p.m. nightly show previously hosted by Greta Van Susteren up until her abrupt departure in September. Carlson has co-hosted Fox & Friends weekend edition since 2013, but has not had a primetime talk show since his failed MSNBC show, Tucker. Before that, he had hosted CNN’s Crossfire, which famously met its demise shortly after Jon Stewart appeared on the pundit-heavy program to rail against political punditry itself. Carlson will become the full-time host of On the Record starting Nov. 14, after the election. Brit Hume has been the show’s interim host since Van Susteren exited. Carlson is also the founder of right-wing news site The Daily Caller, and has openly admitted that he bans his publication from printing negative stories about Fox News because of his employment with the network.
