Boston Harbor was among the coastal areas flooded on Thursday as a result of storm surges caused by a powerful winter storm moving its way up the northeastern region of the United States. Officials were warning residents that the flood waters could freeze quickly as a result of frigid temperatures, making cars and trucks immovable. Tens of thousands of Massachusetts residents lost electricity as a result of the storm. Bostonians were urged on Thursday to stay indoors and avoid driving.
