Camille Lepage, a 26-year-old French photographer, was killed while working in the conflict-stricken Central African Republic. Her body was found by French peacekeeping troops in a car driven by Christian “anti-balaka” fighters in the west of the country. Lepage’s death was the first of a Western journalist in the country. Her last post on Instagram had her reporting that she was embedded with an anti-balaka outfit, and going on roads chosen to avoid African peacekeeper checkpoints. Lepage had previously worked in Sudan.
